Statistical data processing and operation of foreign trade product turnover

Since 1968 Kopint-Datorg has been taking part in forming and operation of the Hungarian foreign trade statistical data process commissioned by the Central Statistic Office (CSO) and the ministries supervising foreign trade. Lot of our colleagues have been participating in this work from the very beginning. Starting in 1991 foreign trade product turnover statistics has been prepared based on the customs documents registering export-import turnover controlled by the customs administration. Purpose of this statistic processing was to have a precise accord of the product structure and origin of product turnover. From 1997 on statistical methodology has been renewed several times.

Due to joining the EU statistical processing of foreign trade product turnover has been placed on to totally new bases by creating the INTRASTAT and EXTRASTAT systems. INTRASTAT became the largest data collecting system of CSO performed every month through paper based questionnaires and those in electronic form.

Following the directives of CSO and complying the requirements of the European Union, it was the task of the CSO Division to work out the administration of INTRASTAT and EXTRASTAT foreign trade product turnover data collecting and processing systems, IT implementation and to set up a proper outsource organization. As of 1st May 2004 these two new systems have been operated by the Division.

Statistical data processing and operation of service-foreign trade

Colleagues of the CSO Division worked out the IT outsource solution of the service-foreign trade statistical data processing system and since 2007 operation has also been carried out by this Division.

Monthly database of national accounts

Kopint-Datorg developed test softwares serving completion of foreign trade product turnover data to be integrated with the national accounts, and prepared a database of foreign trade product turnover according to the national accounts broken to month for 1995-2002. By reason of the database, details of transaction groups, country groups, countries, SITC goods classes can be produced, based on the statistical value, in c.i.f. - f.o.b. value, in HUF and in EUR. Forming the database, precise methodological description has been elaborated. The Division worked out programs founding synthetic study of details contained in different customs databases.
